Named after Frank W. Valliant - Chief Divisional Engineer for the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad located in Towson County - Apukshunnubbee District

  • 1902 - Founded in June

  • 1904 - Became Incorporated – Elected 1st major

  • 1920 - Two banks, three hotels, and nearly 20 other businesses
  • 1960 - Pine Creek Dam was built
  • 1970 - Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill was built – Largest in World at the time
  • 1989 - Terry-Hunt Community building was started, it houses the Mattie Terry Public Library - with the donation of land by Jackie Blackard, and a grant from the Ruth Ray Hunt Philanthropic Fund. The Community Center was named in honor of James B. Ray
